Las Vegas Extravaganza
I was recently hired by a production company to shoot a large Las Vegas Variety Show Extravaganza. I got off of the phone today with my client and they were thrilled with the images they received from me. Along with getting paid, hearing their excitement about the photos makes for a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside. The show included an array of amazingly talented people including Recycled Percussion, Chris VanDahl as Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, the mind blowing Damian Brantley as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, plus many more gifted artists. My client wanted candid shots of all the talent getting ready and rehearsing before the show along with the actual show itself. It was a true honor to be surrounded by such amazing people and personalities. I also had the opportunity to hang with them after the show and they were all such down to earth people. This will be an experience I will always cherish. Below are just some of my favorites from the hundreds of images I delivered to my client.

Here is a great video clip I found of Damian doing his MJ thing on youtube…

Awesome photos man! I love that you opted to use OCL for some of the prep photos, it really added an awesome dynamic to them.
Woot-woo!! Well done big fella! Great to see the progress and more stunning shots!
Fantastic job man! Looks like it would have been an experience just to be there. But your photos look fantastic as always! Did you use your 430s and softboxes for all the shots?
Thanks Todd. For most of the pre-show shots I did my flash off camera with a softbox. Others I used my 50mm wide open with no flash and for the show there was no flash.
fantastic job with this shoot!! I love your work!!
When you shot with the flash off the camera with a softbox (FOCSB) did you put it right behind you so it would be like a bounce? What where your settings? Do you have any set up shots of the FOCSB? Great images!
FOCSB, nice one! I did not use it as a bounce, it was directional. I moved it all over the place always trying to keep it around 5 to 7 feet from the subject. Times it was close to me and others it could have been 30 feet from me. The most important detail was distance from subject, not me. I didn’t have time for setup shots but you can see the light source and stand in this shot… http://matthewcoughlin.com/NBPproductions/images/NBP-MTMP_008.jpg
